Orange River and Richtersveld

About the Orange River and Richtersveld

The section of the Orange we are paddling through, is made up of long stretches of flat, slow-moving water, which are interrupted by grade 1 and grade 2 rapids. These rapids are easily negotiated and do not require a great amount of skill, although the names like Good Morning, Entrance Exam, Sjambok, Witches and Snotklap draw one's attention. No need to fear, the short burst of adrenalin will be comforted by the calm still water following each rapid. The paddling does not require a high level of fitness, but good health is a prerequisite for an enjoyable experience. Children older than 8 years are welcome, while the oldest client taken was 75 years of age.
