Example: Travel to Abiqua (approximately 8 hours drive from Cape Town), arriving not later than 17h00 (South African Time). On arrival your personal equipment will be packed and the vehicles will be taken to the exit point at Norotshama (40km gravel road-good condition). Day 1 – The first day on the river. An early start after the safety briefing. Tea at the Swizzroll(An interesting rock formation). Lunch at the Hammerkop rapid. After the Entrance Exam rapid, we set up camp at King Kong(A rock formation that resembles its namesake). A quick climb to the top of King Kong enables a spectacular view of the river. |

Day 2 – The second day on the river. Early breakfast, lunch at the Sjambok rapid. As the sun sets, you can relax and enjoy the surroundings, especially the view of Tafelkop Mountain. Day 3 – The third day on the river takes us past the old calcium mine. After lunch we leave the boats and take a short walk to see the rare Elephant's Trunk plant (Halfmensboom). Our last evening is enjoyed upstream from the Snotklap rapid (which is not as bad as it sounds). |
